First Quilt of 2012

When we last left it, the Wheels 2 quilt was in a state of limbo.

BUT...

with a new quilting frame and the desire to just get something DONE,

we have a FINISH!

My first quilt complete in 2012.
I'm beyond thrilled.
It goes as a gift to a dear friend and her coming-soon baby boy.

I love those dots. I bought yards of those dots. Now they are all gone. I wish I had bought more. Hopefully in May, Mom and I can sneak away to the quilt shop near my brother's home when we go down for my nephews graduation and find some more sales and it will include DOTS.

In all its finished glory, Wheels 2. This was just some traditional quilt block make with scraps and my own thrown together layout. I hand quilted each block, but left the busy sashing alone. I love the nice, soft texture from the scanty quilting. As always, I attached the binding to the front by machine and finished it on the back by hand. I'm not sure if you call that hand-binding or not. It has already been mailed and received, and she loves it, so yay!

Fabric is Wheels by My Minds Eye for Riley Blake, with a Bella Solids in Snow White for the neutral colored HST. The fabulous dots on the back are Michael Miller Candy Dots in Blue.

This is my first finish of 2012, and my 7th finished quilt over all.
